The liver is a central organ that preserves physiological homeostasis. It is a highly structured
organ composed of hexagonalshaped anatomical units termed 'liver lobules'. Blood rich in
oxygen enters the liver lobule at peripheral portal tracts and drains out through the central
vein. Conversely, bile flows outwards from the lobule centres and drains out through portal
